Cat Garcia

A mixture of both images and portraits, Our Time profiles 60 of Britain's most creative minds at work. Below Garcia recounts the moments behind some of the photographs.

Our Time is released on 25 February.

Danny Sangra

A detail shot from Danny's East London home.

Deyan Sudjic

This portrait of Deyan was taken outside the Design Museum in London. I like that this shot shows his warmth and is a good fit to the quote about him in Our Time, by Masoud Golsorkhi (Founder, TANK Magazine), that says his 'sense of humour is fortified with encyclopaedic knowledge...'

Gary Card

Gary was photographed in his studio, planning for an upcoming shoot, and at a favourite East London café. This shot is a handdrawn detail from his studio.

Gavin Turk

I spent a day with Gavin at work in his East London studio. This shot of him working on large scale canvases, with a beam of natural afternoon light shining into the studio, one of my favourite shots in the book.

Giles Deacon

A portrait of Giles from time spent in his East London studio, capturing him at work, and here, whilst showing me around the studio.

Grace Ladoja

I photographed Grace for Our Time whilst she was on set directing a music video for UK artist FKA twigs. Driven and inspiring, great atmosphere on set with her.

Polly Morgan

I photographed Polly at work in her East London studio, preparing for a forthcoming exhibition. I later shot the opening night so was good to see the two stages.

Robert Storey

Robert's shown here creating a set on location at the old Central Saint Martins building in Holborn. I shot him earlier in the day in his East London studio and here on set, so was good to spend time with him across the two locations. He's very photogenic and we shot lots of nice portraits, but I also like this aerial shot of him, (quite happily) hauling pieces for a set upstairs.

Sir Paul Smith

This image is from time spent in Sir Paul Smith's studio; packed floor to ceiling with books, bikes and collections of things that people have sent him. He's shown looking through new silk fabrics. Inspiring and generous, great to have him in the book.
