Masam: Material World

Paper artist Marianne Guély and architect Said Njeim met over dinner, bonding through a love of travel and artisanal production. The result is Masam. The Paris-based design studio apply Guély’s paper folding techniques (her skills have previously been called upon by brands such as Dior, Louis Vuitton and Toyota) to various materials including leather and alabaster, across lighting, jewellery and stationery. Having premiered their debut collection at 100% Design in London in 2014, the pair continue their quest for "perfection, excellence and beauty."

With a client list that includes Tatler and Vogue - the paper engineer offers some insight into turning flat sheets into amazing 3D art
