Samsung UHD Art Tour

This series, curated by Crane.tv for Samsung, is about finding artists who are early adopters of ultra high definition and encouraging work that showcases the new degree of clarity and detail possible in 4k resolution. The chosen videos by Owen Kydd, Mark Lewis, Leslie Thornton and Tabor Robak are about the act of looking and the increasingly intimate relationship between viewer and screen. Over the past month, a four-stop tour around America—from a gallery in the Hamptons, to private homes in Aspen, Los Angeles, and Miami Beach—has taken Samsung’s 85” Ultra HD TV into a variety of contexts where these works have been shown for the first time at such a high image quality. The excitement among the attendees, artists and hosts suggests that the future is definitely now.

Tabor Robak

Robak is already living in augmented reality, making video postcards from there for the rest of us. Kevin McGarry meets the artist.
